Listening for Silent E

Today, we did part of Skills Block with a twist! This week's homework includes going onto the website Destination Math and Reading. Although I wish we had a tablet or a remote control mouse, we still find ways to incorporate technology in the classroom. Here's a snipet of us working on an activity available online. Check it out...

Do you know the sound the vowel will make when there's a silent e (like in the word tape)?

  1. I enjoyed visiting your blog! I am a first grade teacher in South Carolina. We are working on silent e this week! Is the web site Destination Math/Reading one purchased by your district or is it free for public use? I clicked on the link and wasn't sure if I could log on? Thank you for sharing your class and ideas for fun learning! : )

  2. Dear Ms. Alpers,

Thank you for your kind words. We work hard and we try our best to find an interactive fun way to do it.

On the blog, I try my best to add links to resources available to our students and families when at home. Most are free. Some are not. Destination Reading/Math is provided by Destination Learning Management™ which is a part of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Learning Technology. It is a service made available to our students thanks to our district’s purchase.

I hope this information helps. Wishing you and your class a Happy New Year!
