Being Thankful

Today, our Principal charged us with seizing the opportunity to be thankful at least 20 times today. So, we found the moment to do just that!

A lovely and thoughtful paraprofessional at our school made a Henkes Mouse Finger for each student in our class. We love it! After using them for the very first time today, we each wrote a personal thank you note to her and then presented our thankful hearts to her while she was on lunch duty in the dining room.

What are you thankful for today? Did you take the time to tell someone thank you?

Addition Missions?

Today, we enjoyed reading this book during Math Workshop.
Then we tried to solve this problem in the story.
Here are some of us trying to solve the riddle:

How many musicians do you think would be in the marching band if we added 4 more drummers? What strategy would you use to solve the problem?

Measuring My Fish

Today, we measured how long is our fish.

During closing, we had a discussion on this fish measurement:

A friend helps discover the inch color tile that is off the page ("You can't measure the fish if the tile is not on the fish."):

Ok. So, let's try to measure again how long is my fish...

There! So what do you think?

My friend has some advice...

What do you think I should do?

Punctuation Spies

Last week's homework reviewed quotation marks. This morning's warm up was also another opportunity to practice using the fabulous duo.

1. the sleepover was a lot of fun said jessica
2. are you coming over to my house asked patrick

During Reader's Workshop, we all searched for use of quotation marks and other punctuations in one sentence.

How would you edit this morning's sentences?
