Wanna Change Anything?

Preston Gannam wanted to change things. He wanted a safe place for students to enjoy recess without worrying about the harmful effects of the sun. So, he wrote an essay and was a winner for the 2011 Sun Defense Essay Contest. Thanks to his persuasive writing, our school will receive a sun shade structure to help shelter us from the sun when needed. Yee-Haw! Today, we also heard the story of some cows wanting an electric blanket from Farmer Brown. The cows in the barn typed away their demands trying to persuade Farmer Brown to give them what they want. Then, we made our own list of things we'd like to change and why or how. I wonder how will they try to persuade me to give them a longer recess? Or how will they persuade their parents to let them have a later bed time?

Our afternoon read aloud was about a little boy wanting to have a baby iguana as a pet. All he had to do was persuade his mother to let him have one. So, they wrote notes back and forth to each other about the pet iguana.

Do you have anything that you want to change? Why or how would you change it?
