Measuring Tape with Different Units

We measured again the same tapes from yesterday, but this time, we are all using the same units of measure... either craft sticks or basketball player steps (size 14).

Our prediction was that we would all have about the same measurements. Uh, oh! Some of us measured Tape A and we came up with some interesting results.

Why do you think we have some different results?

Measuring tape around the room. Check out how this first grader measured the tape with his own kid feet.

What would you have done differently?

Measuring My Fish

Today, we measured how long is our fish.

During closing, we had a discussion on this fish measurement:

A friend helps discover the inch color tile that is off the page ("You can't measure the fish if the tile is not on the fish."):

Ok. So, let's try to measure again how long is my fish...

There! So what do you think?

My friend has some advice...

What do you think I should do?
